              Philosophy
Participating in a cooperative nursery school gives parents
the unique opportunity of observing the growth and development
of their own children as well as other children of the same
                  age in a school setting.

              Organization
A cooperative nursery school is operated by the parents.
Members, through the Executive Committee (EC), set guidelines
and assume the administrative and financial responsibilities of
the school. The educational program is under the direction of
trained teachers and the Director who are assisted in the daily
                schedule by the parents.

              History
The Wallingford Cooperative Play Group was founded in January of
1955. Five mothers were seeking playmates for their pre-school
children in this almost rural community of retired people.
