About

The Wallingford Co-op is the only cooperative nursery school in this area. It is run by parents, who may choose to help in their child's classroom an average of 1 to 2 mornings per month. (Parents who choose not to co-op pay a higher tuition). At the co-op the emphasis is on socialization, self-respect, respect for others and development of the child's confidence through fun and practical introduction of kindergarten-readiness skills.

We offer 3 or 4 mornings per week class for 3-year-olds. Children must be 3 by September 1 and toilet trained to enroll in this class. We offer 3, 4 or 5 mornings-per-week for 4- and 5-year-olds. Children must be 4 by September 1st to enroll in this class. For children younger than the nursery school age guidelines, we offer a Meerkat's Morning Out and a Play School Hippos class. We also offer a Kindergarten Complement program for children attending the local districts' half-day Kindergarten programs. This program offers a morning and an afternoon session 3, 4 or 5 days per week. Click here to see our hours of operation.

Co-op classes are small, with a good adult-to-child ratio. Parents are involved in the daily classroom activities and are integral to program extras like cooking and special class celebrations. Extended day options of Early Bird and Lunch Bunch (BYO lunch) are offered. We have several traditional special events where families can socialize with each other including Chili Cook Off and Pizza Social, Bring Someone Special Night, Spring Show and Ice Cream Social, Mother's Day Tea and End of Year Celebration. Families get to know each other at the co-op, leading to an intimate, friendly atmosphere in which the children bloom.
